Aviation Week & Space Technology Distinguished Service Award
 



FSF-Boeing Aviation Safety Lifetime Achievement Award


The award recognizes an individual for his or her lifetime commitment and contribution to enhancing aviation safety.

Criteria for judging nominations include the following:

  • Devoted efforts spanning two decades or more to enhance civil aviation safety and/or military aviation safety beyond the normal expectations of job assignments;

  • The influence of the nominee’s contribution to enhancing aviation safety beyond the organization for which the nominee has worked;

  • The influence of the contributions on multiple facets of aviation safety (e.g., operations, training, design, regulation);

  • The international influence of the contributions;

  • A general recognition of the nominee as having been highly committed to aviation safety throughout his or her career; and,

  • The nominee’s commitment in active participation in activities, initiatives or dialogue that seek to promote aviation safety.

Nominations can be posthumous.

Nominations should include the names of at least two other individuals who have experience in aviation safety and could provide supporting information, if asked, for the nomination.

The recipient of the award — established in 2002 by the Foundation and The Boeing Co. — receives an etched Waterford Crystal memento engraved with his or her name and complimentary registration for the recipient and spouse or guest for the International Air Safety Seminar at which the award will be presented.

Indicate the reasons why the nominee is worthy of the Award, his or her accomplishments and any previous recognition received.
