Media/Communications

Flight Safety Foundation executives and subject matter experts are available to talk to the media about aviation safety issues. By policy, however, the Foundation does not speculate on the probable causes of accidents or incidents. In the event of an accident, it is in the interest of aviation safety and of the traveling public to refrain from speculation and to allow professional accident investigators to do their jobs without undue external pressure and media attention. Also, it is important to note that the objective of accident/incident investigations is to determine how and why events happen in order to prevent them from happening again. The objective of safety investigations is not to assign blame.

To arrange an interview, please contact Frank Jackman at jackman@flightsafety.org.

News Releases

The Foundation periodically issues news releases or statements about aviation safety issues. Links to press releases from the past several years can be found to the right and on the Industry Updates page. Press releases also are available via email. If you would like to be added to the Foundation’s press release email list, please send an email to Linda Werfelman. Please make sure to include your name, phone number and media affiliation.

Archived News Releases

Press releases issued by the Foundation from 2006 through 2016 have been archived. Please click on the appropriate link to view the press release archive by year. Press releases for each year will be displayed in reverse chronological order.

Archived Publications

Before the debut of AeroSafety World in 2006, Flight Safety Foundation published seven monthly or bi-monthly bulletins devoted to different aviation safety themes. Although the earliest — going back as far as 1953 — are mostly of historical interest, the archived issues available here, from 1988 until they were superseded by ASW, are a rich source for research on many aviation safety topics. For your convenience, they are full-text searchable.

Archived AeroSafety World Issues

Issues of AeroSafety World from July 2006 through April 2020 are can be found here.
