Capt. Harry Nelson is the executive operational advisor to Product Safety at Airbus. Harry, who began his career as a military pilot, has spent 49 years in two main fields â Flight Training and Flight Test. Harry has flown more than 75 different aircraft types and has sent more than a 100 students on their first jet solo. He has also carried out hundreds of first flights of new build production aircraft. Harry provides us with an interesting insight into current and future challenges in managing aviation risk.

Capt. Scott Schwartz is the Dangerous Goods Program Director for the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA). He also serves as chairman of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations Dangerous Goods Committee and as a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization Dangerous Goods Panel. He is a full time MD-11 captain and line check airman flying and instructing worldwide with FedEx. Scott provides a pilot’s perspective on very important regulatory and operational developments regarding lithium batteries in air transportation that have taken place in the past year.

Joseph Barclay is the CEO of Inflight Warning Systems and the chair of Flight Safety Foundation’s Maintenance Advisory Committee. Joseph has also been a member to the Foundation’s International Advisory Committee for six years. Joseph has a long history in aviation maintenance including the U.S. Air Force, commercial airlines, and MRO management. Joseph uses his analytical skills to improve processes within maintenance to incorporate effective safety, human factors and efficiency programs within maintenance organisations.
