Foundation Partners with CAAC to Produce Chinese-Language Version of AeroSafety World

Alexandria, VA, March 30, 2010 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that it had reached an agreement with the Civil Aviation Administration of China to translate and distribute AeroSafety World each month. The agreement will lead to an electronic version of the magazine being available through FSF’s and the CAAC’s website in Chinese.
“We think that this is wonderful opportunity for everyone involved,” stated FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “China is an enormous aviation market and its growth rate is impressive. What’s also impressive is the work that the regulators have done to maintain an excellent safety record while enabling growth. With a Chinese-language version of ASW available on-line for free, we’ll be able to reach out with our safety information to a very large and very important audience.”
Currently, ASW is available in English at the FSF website and has an electronic subscription of approximately 40,000. It’s expected that a Chinese-language version would more than double that subscription level.
“To us, AeroSafety World is a very good publication, contributing a lot worldwide in the sharing of safety knowledge and lessons learned,” said Capt. Li Jian, Deputy Administrator of Safety at CAAC. “It is kind of a pity as ASW has not been so widely introduced to the Chinese market. With this cooperative agreement, we at CAAC will be pleased not only to spread the global safety knowledge within China, but also to share our experiences with the international community. This is our obligation, and we look forward to a fruitful cooperation with the Foundation.”
