Sacred Heart Health System, a Florida-based health care provider, is implementing “pre-flight” checklists to enhance teamwork and communication in order to improve patient outcomes during complicated procedures, the organization said.
“We foster a culture that continuously strives to improve patient safety,” said Dr. Charles Wyatt, a cardiovascular surgeon at Sacred Heart Hospital. “Aviation-based training enhances safety and reliability to our patients by emphasizing communication and standard operating procedures, such as checklists,” he said in a press release.
