Last year, the Foundation embarked on a campaign to update its digital infrastructure and benefits. We brought online a new membership database and launched our new website. The new database makes us more efficient, and the new website makes us easier to work with and enables us to more effectively gather, curate and disseminate important aviation safety information and knowledge. Also, when we launched the new website, we transitioned to a digital-only version of AeroSafety World (ASW), enabling us to reach a greater number of people in a more timely and cost-effective manner.
Now I am happy to announce that our new ASW mobile app is finished and ready for deployment.
The app is available free of charge from both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Search on the name AeroSafety World and click “install” once you find it. After the app has been installed on your mobile device, you will need to log in using the same username and password you use to access AeroSafety World and the other members-only content on the website. If you need assistance with setting up or remembering your username and password, email us at membership@flightsafety.org and we’ll be happy to help. Remember to include your name, title, company and company email address.
After you have logged in to the app for the first time, the ASW issues and articles will download to your device. Please be patient. This may take a few minutes. Once it is finished, you will be able to access ASW even when you are not connected to the internet.
Issues of the magazine are displayed on the app in reverse chronological order, with the most recent issue appearing first. To navigate to older issues, swipe left. Swipe right to go back to newer issues. To view the articles in a particular issue, tap the issue’s cover image. The app also allows you to search for articles by keyword, share articles with colleagues, and mark articles as “favorites” for reading later.
In addition to the app, we also have rolled out some enhancements to the website. You may notice that a print icon now can be found at the bottom of ASW articles and posts on the Industry Updates page. This will make it much easier to print out copies of articles to save them as PDFs. We also made changes to the Basic Aviation Risk Standard pages to make them easier to navigate, and plan to do something similar for the Global Safety Information Project pages shortly.
We welcome your feedback. If you have any comments or questions, please email Frank Jackman.
And as always, thank you for your support.
