Alexandria, VA, March 30, 2015 – The Flight Safety Foundation released the following statement today from FSF President and CEO Jon Beatty:
“As the details of the tragedy of Germanwings 4u9252 continue to be released, we again extend our most heartfelt sympathies to the families and loved ones of the passengers and flight crew on the flight.
The French authorities, with assistance from Germany, are at the beginning stages of what will be a thorough investigation conducted by aviation experts with experience in examining every aspect of an accident. This will lead to the discovery of the root cause and potential corrective action.
As the investigation continues, however, FSF again calls for the speculation to be minimized. We are concerned that conclusions are being reached in the media discussion before the investigation is complete. This speculation does not advance our understanding of this tragedy and can cause needless pain for the families.”
