‘A Step Back’

Air transport aircraft were involved in seven fatal accidents that killed 244 passengers and crew¹ in 2024 and that translated into an accident rate of 1.13 accidents per million flights — yearly totals that were higher than those recorded in 2023, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said in its 2024 Annual Safety Report.
