Forgotten and Deferred

The crew of an Airbus A320, having forgotten warnings of a software problem and having failed in their attempt to activate pilot-controlled airport lighting, nevertheless continued an unstable approach to Hervey Bay Airport in Queensland, Australia. The aircraft landed with touchdown loading of 1.55 g — a level that required post-landing evaluation by the airline’s flight data analysis program.
