Canada is warning of an avionics system that may indicate aircraft are flying even though they are still on the ground.
Citing a 2020 incident in which the transponder of an Embraer 190 transmitted that the airplane was in the air when it was actually on the runway, Transport Canada (TC) is advising operators of aircraft with similar avionics systems to be aware that those systems may indicate that an aircraft is airborne when indicated airspeed exceeds 50 kt, even if it is on the ground.
