ALEXANDRIA, Virginia — International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar will deliver keynote remarks at Flight Safety Foundation’s 11th annual Networking and Awards Dinner, scheduled for June 24 at the National Press Club in Washington. Salazar, a former director general of Aeronáutica Civil of Colombia (Aerocivil), began his second three-year term as ICAO secretary general in August 2024.
During the evening, the Foundation will present awards named in honor of two of the organization’s founders. The Richard Crane Award, which recognizes an organization for its sustained corporate leadership through lasting contributions in the field of civil aviation, will be presented to Embry-Riddle Riddle Aeronautical University. The Gloria Heath Trophy, which recognizes a woman for notable achievements in civil aviation, will be presented to Milena Bowman of EUROCONTROL. U.S. National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Jennifer Homendy will present the Gloria Heath Trophy.
The Networking and Awards Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. on June 24 with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the awards presentations. The event typically draws organizations and individuals from across the Washington area, and from the national and international aviation communities.
