Alexandria, VA, April 12. 2015 – The entire staff of the Flight Safety Foundation notes with great sadness the passing of FSF board member Paolo Pettinaroli.
"Paolo made tremendous contributions to aviation safety. After suffering the unimaginable tragedy of losing his son in the crash of Scandinavian Airlines 686 on October 8, 2001 in Milan, Italy, he led the survivors group October 8 Foundation, and focused their efforts on aviation safety. It was through that work that Paolo became acquainted with the Flight Safety Foundation and became a true friend of the Foundation," stated FSF President and CEO Jon L. Beatty.
Paolo hosted the International Air Safety Summit in Milan in 2010, and showed our attendees great hospitality and generosity.
"It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to this remarkable man and pass our condolences onto his family, friends and coworkers. The aviation safety community has lost a true advocate and friend," stated Kenneth J. Hylander, Chairman of the FSF Board.
