Report: Crewmembers’ Ionizing Radiation Exposure ‘Warrants Attention’

An expert panel says occupational exposure levels for flight and cabin crews are among the highest in the U.S.

Crewmembers are regularly exposed to ionizing radiation at levels that, although below annual recommended limits, accumulate throughout their careers; as a result, they should be monitored for cumulative exposure, according to a study by the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
