Commercial aviation operations recorded 30 accidents in 2023, along with a record low fatality risk rate of 0.03 per million flight sectors — meaning that a person would need to travel by air every day for 103,239 years to be involved in a fatal accident, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) says.
