Facing Up to Risks

Many airlines and other operators have adopted the threat forward concept of pilot briefings— briefings that focus on active safety threats for the current mission, rather than a standard recitation of data on approach charts or other aeronautical publications. While it’s still a good idea to review frequencies, headings, and other data, the main emphasis of a threat forward briefing is on the hazard most likely to cause problems for the operation at hand.
