Alexandria, VA, July 7, 2010 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today the re-release of its Approach-and-Landing Accident Reduction (ALAR) Tool Kit with updated data and a new section on runway excursions. The ALAR Tool Kit was introduced ten years ago with more than 40,000 copies distributed around the world.
The updated version of the tool kit has been enhanced with the inclusion of the results of the Foundation’s Runway Safety Initiative efforts to prevent runway excursion accidents. In addition, the tool kit contains updated data and graphic presentations on approach and landing accidents.
The ALAR Tool Kit was originally designed to be a self-contained CD that would provide operators with valuable information to help reduce accidents during the critical final phases of a flight. In support of this tool kit, the Foundation’s Controlled Flight Into Terrain and Approach and Landing Action Group (CAAG) has conducted workshops around the world to teach regulators and operators how to use the information in the tool kit as well as how to teach others how to use it.
“The ALAR Tool Kit is one of our most popular products because it is a tool that provides operators around the world with information and material in an easy-to-use format,” commented FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “We’ve held more than 30 ALAR workshops all around the world and anticipate holding many more. These revisions and the new information about runway safety make this new version very valuable for anyone in aviation.”
Like all FSF products and publications, the ALAR Tool Kit is available for purchase through our web site store.
