Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s Deputy Director-General Elected to Foundation Board

by Flight Safety Foundation | November 3, 2011

Singapore, November 3, 2011 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that its Board of Governors elected Tay Tiang Guan, Deputy Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), to join the Board. This is for a three-year term.

Mr Tay has more than 23 years of experience in civil aviation and has held key management appointments in CAAS. In his current role, Mr. Tay is primarily responsible for the safety regulation of the aviation industry in Singapore, as well as the Singapore Aviation Academy, the training arm of CAAS. He has also had hands-on experience in managing aviation safety in airport operations and the provision of air navigation services. On a regional front, he chairs the ASEAN Air Transport Working Group and is also an active member of the ICAO COSCAP-SEA* program which coordinates initiatives and technical assistance programs to enhance aviation safety in the region.

“Mr. Tay will be a key addition to our Board of Governors,” stated FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “He is keenly aware of the safety challenges facing the entire region and is aggressively working to address them. His role with the Board will bring these safety challenges to the attention of the entire Board and provide opportunities for Foundation work to be of direct assistance.”

“It is an honor for me to be given this opportunity to serve on the Board of Governors of the Flight Safety Foundation. I look forward to working closely with the FSF to advance its cause of promoting aviation safety globally,” said Mr. Tay.

The FSF Board of Governors held its annual Fall meeting at the Singapore Aviation Academy in conjunction with the FSF 64th annual International Air Safety Seminar.
