Hajime Yoshimura of Japan has been unanimously appointed by the ICAO Council as president of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Air Navigation Commission (ANC). Yoshimura’s one-year term begins Jan. 1. He has served on the ANC since March 2013, and was appointed first vice president earlier this year. He will succeed Farid Zizi as president.
Before joining the ANC, Yoshimura spent 20 years at the Civil Aviation Bureau of Japan (JCAB), working in air navigation, air worthiness and air transport safety operations.
The ANC president is appointed by the ICAO Council for a one-year term. The first and second vice presidents are appointed by the ANC for one-year terms. Commissioners are appointed by the Council for three-year terms.
