ALEXANDRIA, Virginia — Flight Safey Foundation has opened nominations for the Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal and the David Morrison Innovation Award. Both awards will be presented during a special awards dinner held in conjunction with the Foundation’s 76th annual International Aviation Safety Summit on Nov. 6–8 in Paris.
The Jerome Lederer Safety Leadership Medal recognizes an individual or team for making a significant contribution to the advancement of civil aviation safety through demonstrated organizational or industry leadership and by developing or advancing programs that will have a lasting impact on aviation. Selection criteria include the nominee’s role as a strong champion of safety information–sharing and an advocate of developing and promoting safety standards, and broad recognition of the nominee as a safety leader.
The David Morrison Innovation Award recognizes an individual, a team or an organization for notable technological innovation or process transformation in civil aviation. As part of the selection process, the Foundation would like to understand how the need was identified, what went into designing and developing the innovation or process change, and how collaboration played a role.
“Flight Safety Foundation believes it is important to recognize significant achievement in the aviation industry, and these two prestigious awards, which are rooted in the Foundation’s heritage, are part of that effort,” said Foundation President and CEO Dr. Hassan Shahidi.
The deadline for submitting nominations for both awards is Sept. 8. More information on the awards and how to submit nominations is available on the Foundation’s website.
IASS 2023 is scheduled for Nov. 6–8 at the Paris Marriott Charles de Gaulle Airport Hotel. The theme of this year’s event is “harnessing innovation and collaboration for global aviation safety.” Registration for IASS is open and an early bird registration discount is available until Sept. 19. Please visit the IASS 2023 webpage on the Foundation website for more information and to register.
