Taipei Chosen as Site of IASS 2019

by FSF Communications Staff | November 14, 2018

SEATTLE — Flight Safety Foundation announced Wednesday that its 72nd annual International Air Safety Summit (IASS) will be held Nov. 4¬-6, 2019, in Taipei, with the China Aviation Development Foundation (CADF) as its host sponsor.

The announcement was made in Seattle on the final day of IASS 2018.

“Flight Safety Foundation is delighted to be taking the IASS to Taipei in 2019. The Asia-Pacific region has been a powerhouse in the growth of the aviation industry and will be an ideal location for us to present the industry’s premier aviation safety summit,” said Jon Beatty, president and CEO of the Foundation.

“I am greatly honored to represent the China Aviation Development Foundation (CADF) in welcoming international experts from all over the world to Taipei,” said Dr. Wang Kwo-Tsai, chairman of the CADF. “During the three-day summit, Taiwan’s aviation industry can enhance its interaction with the international community, demonstrating our air safety efforts and performance. We look forward to learning from our international colleagues, and to further contributing to the enhancement of international air safety.”

IASS 2019, to be held at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei, will mark the first time that the IASS has traveled to Asia since 2011, when the summit was held in Singapore.

The IASS has been held every year since 1947, offering safety professionals from around the world opportunities to exchange information and propose new directions for further reducing risk. Attendance this year topped 400. The summit analyzes issues including safety, training, practical solutions, management and human factors as they affect airlines, manufacturers and equipment suppliers, trainers, flight crews, maintenance personnel and industry executives.

About the China Aviation Development Foundation
The CADF was established to help with development of Taiwan’s aviation industry. Toward this goal, CADF undertakes activities that promote the development of the aviation industry, including cultivating human resources and investing in projects that enhance efficiency and safety in aviation.
